Psalm 73:22-28
King
James Version (KJV)
22 So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before
thee.
23 Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast
holden me by my right hand.
24 Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward
receive me to glory.
25 Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon
earth that I desire beside thee.
26 My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength
of my heart, and my portion for ever.
27 For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou
hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee.
28 But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my
trust in the Lord God, that I may declare all thy works.
Press In Instead of Running
Away
Oh, the pitfalls that we seem to jump into. Its one thing to get tripped
up in this spiritual walk. Its something else entirely to go running after the
very thing we just know is wrong for us.
But, we do it.
I don't have to look any further than my own walk to know this is
true...but we all know that family member who has diabetes who's always first at
the dessert table....the friend with cancer who still smokes....someone involved
with somebody else's spouse. Or maybe the great big obvious 'no-no's' are
smaller, and more personal...a particular website, or tv show...or maybe its
time stolen from family just to be by one's self.
Again, I've got mine. You may have yours. But no matter how big or how
small what we must first do is find out where they line up with our lives in
Christ.
There is no detail with which God is not concerned about us. If He knows
the number of hairs on our head, then He's interested in how we spend our
time...His time.
Its not an easy thing to bring EVERY thought into captivity. When we first
start doing it, it can be downright exhausting. But, as David shared, we should
be continually with God...letting Him hold our right hand and guide us through.
His counsel is wise. And He is always for us. No matter what.
Loved one, whatever has gotten between you and Christ, He's ready, willing
and waiting to bring you back in. Nothing matters so much that it should be the
reason to keep you away. Christ suffered unspeakable horrors just to restore us
to the Father. Nothing scares Him.
Ashamed of 'it' whatever it is? That's ok. Bring it with you. Walking
with Him, talking with Him and moving in the wisdom of His counsel, it will
either become good for you, or you'll look back and wonder when you let it
go.
When you're holding on to Jesus, its best to do it with empty hands. That
way, He can fill them.
2 Corinthians 10:3-6
King
James Version (KJV)
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the
flesh:
4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but
mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that
exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every
thought to the obedience of Christ;
6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience,
when your obedience is fulfilled.
Isaiah 54:17
King
James Version (KJV)
17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and
every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This
is the heritage of the servants of theLord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.
(not even the ones we make
ourselves)
When you feel like running away from God, run
to Him. The outcome might surprise you.
