A Bigger Vision

2 Kings 13:14-19

14 Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he died. And Joash the king of Israel came down unto him, and wept over his face, and said, O my father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof.
15 And Elisha said unto him, Take bow and arrows. And he took unto him bow and arrows.
16 And he said to the king of Israel, Put thine hand upon the bow. And he put his hand upon it: and Elisha put his hands upon the king's hands.
17 And he said, Open the window eastward. And he opened it. Then Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The arrow of the Lord's deliverance, and the arrow of deliverance from Syria: for thou shalt smite the Syrians in Aphek, till thou have consumed them.
18 And he said, Take the arrows. And he took them. And he said unto the king of Israel, Smite upon the ground. And he smote thrice, and stayed.
19 And the man of God was wroth with him, and said, Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times; then hadst thou smitten Syria till thou hadst consumed it: whereas now thou shalt smite Syria but thrice.
A Bigger Vision
In the passage above, Elisha is giving a final prophecy to the King of Israel before he dies.  King Joash knows the prophet and knows that he is a man of God.  So, at this critical moment, he does follow the words of the prophet, but he doesn't go far enough.
Too often, we let our own distractions and expectations get in the way of blessings from God.  There is something to be said for 'just keep going until I tell you to stop' especially when we're moving at the behest of the Lord.
Whatever it is that you've been talking to God about...whatever it is that you've been wrestling with, believing for, praying over, I encourage you, loved one, to just keep going. When you know that you're moving into the things that God has set aside for you, don't get discouraged and slack off.  Keep going until God says stop.  His plan for you is for your good and not your destruction, so your work is not in vain.
Press on.  Take the limits off what you think God can and will do for you and just let Him do what He does.

Matthew 19:26

26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

Philippians 3:13-15

13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.
