Nothing Restrained

Genesis 11:6

King James Version (KJV)
And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.

Nothing Restrained

The verse above comes from Genesis 11, and is commonly referred to as the story of the Tower of Babel.  It's one of those accounts that even non-believers know.

Verse 11:6 has always stood out to me.  The builders were planning on erecting a tower to reach Heaven.  God Himself said that a people united could do anything they've imagined to do.

God Himself said it.

As we are in the middle of competition at the London Summer Olympics, many of us fans have born witness to people, individually and in teams, doing the seemingly impossible.  Although the para-Olympics won't get the same amount of media coverage, but they too will be a daily testament of once thought sub-par bodies doing the impossible.  These spectacular athletes have great teams of support from parents to coaches to teammates, but they all have the same mindset...the impossible is possible.  That focus along with some incredible and inconceivable hours of hard work make the impossible achievable.

When the people are one, nothing will be restrained.

There were compassionate reasons that God forbade the builders' trip to Heaven.  Without the realization of redemption, we could not have stood before God.  We would have perished as a people immediately.  Jesus had to come, pay the penalty of sin in order for us to have access to the Father.  This is the ultimate gift of salvation; this is what we were redeemed to.

And in His earthly ministry, Jesus compelled us to be like Him...specifically, like-minded.  We were challenged to be one with Him even as He and the Father are one (John 17:21).  He WANTS us to be of one mind.  He WANTS us to come up now.  Nothing will be restrained.

When we accept Christ, we are invited to be one with Him.  And in being of the same mind, ours aligned with Christ, nothing will be restrained which we two imagine to do.  As Paul encouraged:

Philippians 2:5

King James Version (KJV)
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

AND

Romans 12:1-2

King James Version (KJV)
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

One mind.  One Will.  God's will.

Ephesians 4:5-6

King James Version (KJV)
One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

I wish you Oneness with Christ.
